Couple of months ago i decided to raise some funds with my project site. There were three alternatives: to show advertisements on the site, to charge a small fee for each download/registration, and to put a donate button on the site.

I found the last alternative to be the least aggressive, and i do not wish to turn my current projects into commercial stuff.

Advertisements tend to slow down a website, but this is not the real objection against them. Automated ad systems often display advertisements, that are not compatible with this site's objective.

Of course, there will be some commercial web templates on my site, but they will not be introduced yet in the near future.
